In this video, M. R. Hari gives a detailed answer to the oft-repeated query about the usefulness of forests. According to Ayurveda, there is no plant in Nature that is non-medicinal. It is our ignorance that makes us overlook this aspect, and see the usefulness of forests merely in terms of the fruits and vegetables they produce. M. R. Hari argues that we should learn to value the other, greater benefits of forests namely, pure air, pure water, and good soil. Therefore, people planning to construct houses should limit expenses on brick and mortar. Instead, they should buy more land, dig wells, grow plants and trees and thus ensure they get all these tangible as well as intangible benefits of Nature.
