In this video, M. R. Hari recalls one of the trekking trips he undertook with his family at Meenmutty in Thiruvananthapuram. It was an eye-opener in more ways than one. Firstly, it taught him that Nature could appear treacherous to those who did not have any idea about the various phenomena. For instance, only an expert eye would be able to predict flashfloods even when a stream looked very normal. Secondly, Nature could be benign too. While trying to escape a sudden downpour in the forest, Hari had fears that the condition of his unwell daughter, unprotected by an umbrella, might worsen. But, instead, she made a splendid recovery and Hari attributes it to the medicinal quality of the raindrops that fell off the forest trees.
