In this video, M. R. Hari explains how we can use a large fibre tank or barrel to grow a Miyawaki vegetable forest on the terrace. In Kerala, as we get plentiful rains, irrigation will be required only during the summer months. The multicrop system advocated by the Miyawaki method will help in pest regulation. Once the plants grow tall, other saplings can be planted. The leaves and twigs can be left to rot on the soil and increase its fertility. The Miyawaki forest will also cool the living spaces in the lower storeys of the building.
