In this video, M. R. Hari introduces Mr Manoj, an electronics engineer-turnedenvironmental activist, whose activities range from conducting classes and spreadingawareness about climate change, global warming, protection of environment and so on,inspiring and encouraging community participation in eco-restoration projects, promotingrevival of mangrove ecosystems, etc. Mr Manoj explains why it is important to conserve andrebuilt our once-luxuriant mangroves. They are not only more effective than rainforests instoring carbon and protecting our fish wealth but also act as a strong buffer against seasurges. His message is that sea walls, tetrapods, breakwaters and geobags have not beenvery effective against sea surges.
