In this video, M. R. Hari pays a moving tribute to his mentor in afforestation, Prof. (Dr) Akira Miyawaki, by challenging those environmentalists who speak sentimentally about the need to preserve Nature while dismissing the Miyawaki Model of Afforestation as unsuited to Kerala, without studying it from a scientific point of view. He argues that the worth of a forest is to be seen in the intangible benefits the living trees bestow on the planet rather than in the commercial value they have as timber, after being chopped down.
