Despite repeated assurances, even tree lovers find it difficult to believe that planting or having trees near buildings will not cause harm to the foundation or that Miyawaki forests will not attract snakes. In this video, M. R. Hari introduces Mr Suresh, the well-known sculptor-educator, whose own house and school buildings stand unaffected although they are fully surrounded by huge trees. Mr Suresh’s students at Siddhartha Central School in Kollam are encouraged to live in close harmony with Nature. The peaceful ecosystem he has developed in the school premises is the epitome of bio-diversity, and has inspired thousands of students to take to afforestation with no fear of being attacked by snakes or worries about the trees causing damage to buildings.
