In this video, M. R. Hari describes how he and his team set up the first Miyawaki-model forest in his plot at Puliyarakonam. There were several hurdles – the rocky, barren terrain, the incline, the unavailability of water, and so on. But after preparing a seedbed in the four-cent plot, using the potting mixture, planting 400 saplings in it (after they had grown sufficiently well in grow bags for two-and-a-half months), and following a proper pruning and irrigation regimen, he saw a phenomenal rate of growth. This was a rewarding experience, and provided a model that could be recommended for greening urban spaces.
