In this video, M. R. Hari explains the difference between making a seedbed by digging a one-metre deep pit on the one hand and merely loosening the soil and planting the saplings on the other. The first is expensive but very effective because it will help the roots run easily and go deep. The advantages are that the groundwater levels will rise and help all the plants, prevent soil erosion and speed up the growth rate of plants. The second method is cheaper but the plants may not spectacular growth.
